Across the Tile
I hopped both front paws onto a folded linen dish towel resting on the kitchen floor and gave a firm push with my hind legs. The fabric slid effortlessly across the smooth tile, carrying me until it bumped softly into the wooden pantry baseboard. My chest tipped forward into the soft linen folds, but I kept my balance against the wall. Sitting back, I smoothed the wrinkled cloth flat under my paws and pushed it back toward the open floor. Sliding without lifting my feet was much faster than walking.
