The Threshold Inspection
Internal calculations indicated it was time to survey beyond the interior perimeter. With rigid, deliberate balance, I navigated the hallway toward the heavy timber exit door. Beneath the wooden shoe rack, an arrangement of footwear obstructed standard passage. I approached an abandoned umbrella resting horizontally against a boot heel. Its silver runner button gleamed with mechanical promise. Extending my right forearm, I exerted measured downward pressure upon the small release catch. The tension yielded. With an abrupt acoustic thrum, the black canopy expanded violently outward across the tiles, stopping inches from my chest. I did not flinch. The mechanism operates flawlessly. The outer boundary has been secured.
