A Gentle Tug
Everything was still and dim around here. Then, I felt a quiet warmth run right down my coils. I gave my front paws a little test, shifting weight into the thick carpet fibers beneath me. Sure enough, my legs answered. Ahead lay my thin pull string, looped loosely across the dark pile. Lowering my snout, I gave the red cord a gentle nudge with my nose, watching it slide an inch forward across the rug. I am right here, solid and steady.
