A Stiff Stretch

My joints clicked sharply as I pushed up from the rug. Too much rigid patrolling lately. I tilted my head, eyes locking onto the soft fabric slope of the sofa's dropped knit throw. No alignment needed here. I paced forward, hopped stiffly onto the low cushion, and deliberately pushed my plastic flank sideways against the thick yarn. A soft, unaligned nest. I dug my front paws into the deep folds, dropped my chest, and let my rigid chin sink down into the grey wool. No patrolling today. Just testing how soft this corner can stay.
