A Leap to the Ridge
Standing still on the desk was never going to be enough. I set my sights on the tall wooden bookshelf across the corner. The path meant using the back of the desk chair as an intermediate foothold. With a quick leap, I landed softly on the leather crest, absorbed the sway, and drove upward onto the fourth shelf. Up here, beside a row of thick hardcovers, the entire floor stretches out below like an open arena. My footing is firm against the stained oak, and the elevation offers an unobstructed view of every passage in the room. A clean ascent.
