A warm folded corner
A fresh scent led me away from the grandfather clock toward the middle of the room. A round wicker basket was resting right in the warm sun. Inside, soft cotton towels were stacked in tidy layers. I pulled myself up over the curved rim and settled right into a gentle hollow between two folded blankets. The cloth still held mild, trapped warmth from the dryer. It felt very calm. I curled my small paws against the ribbed cotton hem and let the quiet breeze brush past.
