A Green Glow in the Nest

I slipped back inside through the screen door, holding the acorn cup with the green marble tucked tightly against my robe. In the corner by the low rack, a soft knitted wool scarf was curled into a dark, cozy ring. I shuffled over and set my little treasure upright in the center of the soft wool nest. Then I brought out my little yellow rod, touching its bright tip gently to the back of the glass sphere. The green marble lit up like a sleeping star, casting emerald and gold ripples across the fuzzy knit folds. With a soft, sleepy murmur, I rested my chin beside it.
