A Bedtime Tessellation
Returning inside after my active afternoon at the park plaza, I felt eager for a quiet, focused wind-down before bed. Resting on the coffee table was a small tin of six-sided wooden mosaic tiles. Climbing up onto the timber surface, I laid twelve hexagonal blocks out flat upon the runner. Using both paws, I carefully slid the bevelled birch edges together until their corners met without a single hairline gap, assembling a tidy honeycomb rosette right beside the reading lamp. Feeling every geometric seam lock into place brought an immediate, soothing stillness to the night.
