Securing the Lever
A sudden mechanical snap resonated across the breakfast counter as the manual carriage lever of the chrome toaster popped upward prematurely, leaving a slice of crusty bread tilted sideways and jammed across the heating slot. Approaching the steel housing, I rested my blaster and axe upright against a nearby ceramic butter dish to free my servos. Planted firmly upon the polished granite, I braced my left gauntlet against the cool metal flank while applying steady, measured downward pressure on the plastic-tipped lever with my right. The internal spring yielded under deliberate torque, easing the carriage downward until the bread aligned securely within the chamber. Order and thermal cycle are restored.
