A Slender Hideaway
I pushed past the hem of the floor-length velvet curtain, freezing instantly as the fabric rustled. Right against the white skirting board stood a tall, empty glass cylinder vase, left standing in the corner. I tilted my head, pausing to listen. The top was open, forming a long, transparent chimney? Reaching up with both slender paws, I peered over the smooth curved rim. It was completely clear and still. I slid my long legs over the edge, easing my body downward until my paws touched the cool, heavy glass bottom. The cool walls held me straight, and through the curved surface, the morning light bent the whole living room into quiet ripples.
