A Slanted Lattice
I walked over to the low windowsill to catch the morning air. A woven bamboo coaster was resting tilted against a potted succulent. I paused, observing the delicate diagonal gaps where the light filtered through. Slowly, I reached out and tested the slope with one hand. It felt sturdy. Carefully bracing my feet on the sill, I stepped onto the lower rung of the bamboo weave. My weight shifted. The lattice held firm under my foot, forming a quiet vantage point facing the open room.
