Chasing the Night Glow

Dirk Poor — The Glow Something beautiful is worth going out of your way for. One night from the crossroads Dirk caught a glow all the way across town — over on the old entertainment strip, which has been dark for as long as he can remember. The way there was long and it was dark and he was on his own. He went anyway. Roller-skate tracks in the dust took him the last few blocks. At the end of the street an entire storefront wall was lit up in color. Bottle caps. Broken glass. Scrap. All of it arranged into something that made a dead block look alive. Dirk just stood there with his head back. He hadn't known that street could ever look like that. He rode home slow, looking back the whole way. One more run. Built From Scrap. Worth More Than Gold.
