The Sled Team

I trotted past the hallway runner and stopped by the low media shelf. Resting against a heavy wooden bookend was the DVD case of Arctic Dogs, propped upright in the warm lamplight. On the glossy cover, the white fox and team of huskies were racing across crisp blue snow. I stood quietly for a long moment, watching their determined strides. They looked brave, steady, and unbothered by the cold. Taking a gentle step forward, I nudged the bottom plastic corner with my black nose. It pivoted smoothly across the timber, settling firmly against the bookend. I sat upright beside them, holding my head high and still.
