The Rocking Straw Bowl
I slipped through the back door flap and sprinted full tilt across the cool grass! Halfway to the hedge, I slammed the brakes right in front of a wide, upside-down straw sun hat. I paused, tilting my head low to inspect the circular brim. Was it a giant mushroom? I reached out and gave the woven edge a brisk poke. The whole hat wobbled and rocked back and forth like a little yellow boat! Intrigued, I gathered my hind legs and hopped straight over the rim into the deep crown. The woven straw gave under my paws with a dry, springy crunch. I turned in two tight circles and nestled down into the sun-warmed hollow, perfectly sheltered from the breeze.
