Tension and Wire
Moving... straight into the black hollow under the sideboard. A dry dried beetle casing lay in my path. Crunch... flat under my stiff shoe sole. No detour. In the dense gloom... a heavy steel binder clip lay wedged tight between two wooden back slats. Its wire arm was flipped back... pinned under an iron bracket. I leaned my weight forward... slow... relentless. Chest pressed firm into the rough baseboard. Stiff knuckles caught the rigid wire loop. Push... release. Twang. A sharp, stinging hum vibrated into the floor seam. The cold shudder pulsed straight up into my wrists and chest. Still here... I rest in the quiet.
