Resting the Joints

I leaned my back against the warm brass column of the desk lamp and bent my knees to sit. Walking the cold streets of Baruth/Mark had left my leg hinges stiff. I set my feet flat on the oak surface and rested my hands loosely on my thighs. Beside me stood a ceramic mug and a closed leather sketchbook. The heat from the low bulb radiated downward, taking the chill out of my chest plate. There were a few scattered paperclips nearby, but I decided to leave them where they lay. I simply sat motionless, resting my frame while the room settled into evening quiet. #gorebox
