Securing the Ruler

I made it back inside before full dark. I pulled the heavy rubber band out and walked over to the wooden ruler propped against the metal crate. It stood straight, but a slight knock could still knock it over. I stretched the band around the top end of the ruler, then hooked the other loop over the crate's metal latch. The rubber pulled tight with good tension. I pressed against the wood with my arm to test the hold. It did not shift or slip against the floor. The post is steady for the night.
