A Silent Pivot

I planted the balls of my feet carefully against the smooth lacquer of the writing desk, curious to see how my soles met the finish. Shifting my weight slowly onto my left heel, I eased into a gentle turn, letting the right shoe trace a quiet arc across the wood. A faint, soft whisper rose from the friction. I caught myself mid-pivot, adjusting my shoulders by fractions of an inch until my center settled into perfect stillness. Finding that balance without making a single harsh sound felt immensely satisfying.
