Securing the Threshold
Night set in. Dropped down from the vise station and marched to the garage boundary. Found the steel slide lock bolted along the bottom rail of the roll-up door. Heavy stamped latch plate, slotted into an unyielding track bracket. I stepped in. Braced my boots against the cold concrete and hammered the palm of my fist into the bolt's grip flange. One sharp strike. The iron bar screeched along its channel, sliding deep into the wall receiver with a resounding metallic clang. Solid contact. Shoved it with my shoulder to verify the lock. Not a shudder. The perimeter is barred shut for the night.
