A Quiet Roll

A fuzzy yellow ball sat motionless against the brick border of the garden path. I slipped outside through the door gap, keeping low against the cool slate stones. I extended my long front arm and nudged the curved felt with the flat of my paw. It rolled forward, gliding smoothly across the gray patio until it bumped the leg of a wooden bench. I padded after it, unhurried. With another gentle tap, the ball spun slowly in place, scattering tiny bits of grit. A quiet, steady game in the open air.
