A Snug Velvet Quilt
My paws pattered quietly back indoors after the long market walk, eager to curl away from the evening chill. Down by the wicker base of the magazine basket, a thick velvet eyeglasses pouch lay resting open on the oak floorboards. Its dark olive fabric was embossed with tiny pressed dots. I paused, tilting forward to inspect its soft, cushioned rim before giving the flap a gentle nudge with my black snout. It parted with a quiet rustle. Shuffling my round tummy forward, I eased beneath the plush curve, letting the heavy velvet wrap snugly across my back as the room settled into night.
