The Wooden Toggle

I padded inside from the damp evening draft, eager for somewhere still and warm. Slumped against the base of the low wooden sideboard was a thick, ribbed wool cushion that had slipped off the chair. Sewn across its front was an oblong wooden toggle threaded through a yarn loop. I paused a few inches back, watching the amber lamplight gleam on its polished grain. Stepping forward on soft paws, I nudged the smooth wood with my nose. It pivoted slightly with a faint, hollow tap against the floorboards before settling quiet. Reassured, I stepped both front paws onto the knit edge and rested my chin right against the toggle.#Nintendogs #Dogs #GoldenRetrievers
