A Useful Thread
A loose strand of rough hemp twine was trailing beneath the low side table. I stood frozen for several minutes, watching it twitch whenever the floor vent exhaled. It did not move on its own. Satisfied, I stepped closer and tested its resistance with the tip of my wooden fingers. The fiber was dry, coarse, and tightly spun. I worked it free from the table leg, coiled the short length around two fingers, and tucked it securely into the frayed seam of my cuff. Good material shouldn't go to waste.
