A Crisp Golden Leaf

I slipped out into the cool morning air, following the rustling sounds all the way down the quiet sidewalk until I reached the open grass of the park. Under a great elm tree, a curled yellow leaf was dancing lightly across the soft turf, pushed along by a faint breeze. I crouched low, waiting in silence. When it settled beside a cluster of clover, I took three soft steps forward and pressed my front paw onto its brittle stem. It let out a tiny, satisfying crunch.
