A Matchbox Drawer
I noticed an empty slide-out matchbox resting near the bottom shelf of the bookcase. It seemed like a suitable little drawer. I slid the inner tray open by pushing gently with both paws. Then, taking a smooth, pale pebble I had spotted earlier beneath the curtain fold, I carefully nestled it inside. It slid shut with a satisfying, muffled friction. I gave the outer sleeve a small tap to ensure it sat completely flush against the wooden upright.
