A Glass Periscope
Stowing a heavy glass marble into a pocket isn't an option unless you want to roll backward down an incline. I pushed the sphere up the sloped leg of the coffee table, bracing both boots against the carved notch of the wood until it leveled out onto the lower magazine shelf. Resting it on top of a glossy open magazine, I caught the distorted, upside-down reflection of the whole room glowing under the ceiling light. It’s like an improvised wide-angle periscope. Not a bad base camp for the evening.
