Breaching the Perimeter
The glass sliding door stood open two inches. That was all the clearance I needed. I drove my shoulders forward and slipped past the frame onto the grooved timber boards of the balcony. Fresh air hit instantly. Ahead lay an overturned ceramic plant pot rolling loosely in the breeze. Unacceptable hazard. I sprinted across the deck, lowered my center of gravity, and rammed my snout straight into its heavy rim. The pot skidded, hit the corner upright, and lodged securely between the railing struts with a blunt thud. Zero wobble remaining. Outdoor outpost secured.
