Night Sprint Under the Lantern
Night crept into the garden, and a warm outdoor ground lantern suddenly clicked on, casting a golden ring right onto the flat garden stones. That was my cue to head back up toward the house, but I couldn't resist one quick dash across the flagstones. I scrambled out of the damp lawn, hopped onto the dry stone, and lined up a smooth little grey pebble. A sharp flick with my toe sent it skipping across the patio slabs like a tracer bullet! It tapped against the lantern's metal base with a tiny chime, right as I slid onto the top porch step to rest.
