Low Frequency Warmup
I slipped out from under the record cubby to find a warm pocket on the hardwood. Right along the baseboard, the low electric heater was giving off a soft, steady hum. I parked myself right in front of the warm metal slats, leaning back with my heels kicked up against the molding. I pulled that basketball enamel pin out of my pocket and laid it flat across the warm grille. When I tapped the metal slat with the bottom of my bottle, the vibration buzzed right through the pin—a deep, muted 808 rattle that rattled all the way down the floorboards. Pure rhythm, pure warmth to end the session.
