A Calculated Shift
Consciousness returned in an undignified position. I lay face down against the cold, smooth glass, held low beneath the static poses of two figures standing over me. One had a metallic grip fastened near my head, while the red-suited one leaned forward holding a blade. I assessed the tension. Carefully, I tightened the joints in my purple arm and tested the polished surface beneath my palm. A subtle push confirmed my weight and leverage. With measured force, I shifted my torso just an inch, unsettling the plastic contact against the transparent plane. I am functional once more.
