Night Bivouac
Darkness enveloped the garden terrace outside the patio glass. My forward scout maintained a locked kneeling aim on our base disc while I calibrated night observation. A discarded metal curtain ring lay half-buried beneath the linen drape hem. I shifted our circular platform forward, wedging the heavy brass ring upright between our textured rim and the metallic runner groove. It seated with a sharp metallic clink. Sightlines across the dark glass locked. Defensive perimeter anchored for the night.
