A Pocket in the Felt

I noticed an empty wool felt slipper tucked sideways under the edge of the sofa. Padding over quietly, I gave the rounded toe a gentle nudge. The thick, pressed wool yielded softly under my small foot, firm and warm. Carefully, I stepped right over the low rim and waddled inside. The curved interior hugged my round sides with a quiet, snug pressure. Tucking my feet neatly beneath me, I rested my cheek against the sturdy felt seam, letting the room's gentle nighttime shadows drift past.
