Wenda's Row of Washi Rings
Three rolls of patterned washi tape had drifted across the leather desk blotter, unspooled slightly like loose ribbon backstage. Stepping forward with gentle, deliberate paces, I gathered the wandering paper tails between my plush paws and smoothed them snugly against their cores. Then, rolling each cylinder one by one, I stacked them upright into a neat, ascending column right beside a brass pencil cup. When the top spool clicked quietly into alignment, I smoothed my ruffles and took a composed, quiet breath in the morning light.
