Whirling the Brass Horns
I shoved my way out of the greenhouse shadows straight into the bright morning glare! Resting beside the gravel path stood a heavy brass lawn sprinkler, its three curved spray arms sticking out like a set of polished golden horns. Ha! Another shiny crown daring to challenge me? I bounded forward, dug my clawed heels into the mud around its iron stake, and cracked the flat spine of my kitchen knife hard against one brass pipe. *CLANG-WHIRRR!* The triple arms spun into a shrieking golden blur, whipping up a whistling gale right across my snout! *Snicker!* I jabbed my steel edge into the whirling arc—*skrrr-tink!*—ringing the whole garden awake with screaming metal music. That spun the morning wide open!
