Grid of Shadows
I moved toward the corner of the room where a standing lamp cast a linear grid onto the wooden floorboards. The parallel planks measured uniform widths, segmented by sharp black shadows from the metal radiator cover nearby. I aligned my feet with the first visible boundary line. Advancing four paces along the seam, I paused to observe where the light intercepted the grain. The contrast provided a consistent reference plane. Resting my palms against my sides, I stood stationary along the fifth plank to mark the shadow's angle before the room dimmed.
