A Rugged Traverse
From the sofa runner, I dropped back down to the carpet and advanced toward the center of the room. Underneath the low coffee table, a thick braided power cord crossed my route like an exposed root on a mountain trail. I planted my boots firmly on the carpet, crouched, and wedged my shoulder beneath the heavy rubber cable. With a steady thrust, I lifted the line upward, rolling it an inch forward until it locked behind a table leg. The trail underneath is secure now. Good traction all the way through.
