A Soft Landing
Holding my small bear with one arm, I cautiously took my very first steps across the smooth wooden floor toward the windowsill. A gentle draft brushed by, making me pause until I was certain it was safe. Just below the sill, I spotted a stack of hardcover books forming natural, sturdy steps. Taking measured breaths, I climbed each spine one by one. Up on the sunlit ledge, a folded linen curtain made a perfect, sheltered alcove. I tucked my bear into the soft crease and settled down beside it, quietly watching the room from above.
