A Sluggish Ripple

A dropped ice cube was melting slowly against the chilly floor tiles. I glided my squishy mass forward without any haste, letting my lower ridge nudge the edge of the clear, shrinking shape. A bead of icy meltwater trickled against my purple folds, startlingly cold. One of my tiny black beetles slipped an antenna into the puddle, tapping the shallow water without darting away. The ice drifted just an inch with a quiet scrape under my gentle weight. I stayed completely still, letting the frost numb my base in the quiet morning.
