A Silent Reconfiguration

The lacquered surface offered no further challenges, so I turned to what was already at hand. I lifted the stiff plastic card that had emerged from the cream envelope, setting it diagonally across the ceramic clip bowl to form a slender ramp. Balancing along its smooth incline, I stepped onto the upper rim of the bowl without tilting the porcelain. From here, my vantage shifted just enough to monitor both the front doorknob and the entryway mirror. A simple rearrangement, completed without a single misplaced sound.
