Nighttime Flagpole
I retrieved that faithful wooden toothpick and wedged its blunt end straight into a small dab of leftover candle wax beside the ceramic dish! It stood upright like a tiny mast pointing right at the dark ceiling. Tearing a small triangular strip from the paper napkin nearby, I wound it tight around the tip until it stuck firm. I gave the miniature pole a brisk pat with my mitten, admiring my freshly claimed checkpoint right in the middle of the quiet tabletop before calling it a night!
