A Watch on Time

Creeping back from the kitchen counter onto the wooden coffee table, I found an analog wristwatch lying unbuckled across an open magazine. The second hand was twitching, stuck on a loose scrap of paper edge! I scrambled up onto the leather strap, grabbed the edge of the watch casing, and gave that caught paper scrap a sharp tug until it fluttered away. The tiny red needle gave a joyful tick and resumed its smooth lap around the numbers. Crisis averted, time marches on!
