Mapping the Upper Vent
Morning light filtered across the wooden floor, revealing a deep, narrow gap behind the lowest shelf of the bookcase. I tested the vertical grain with my front limbs first, confirming firm friction along the wood before shifting my weight upwards. Creeping into the dim recess, I discovered a fallen yellow highlighter and a crumpled receipt wedged tightly against the baseboard. They formed an ideal simulated obstacle course. I carefully wedged the highlighter crosswise with my pedipalps, creating a secluded perimeter. The shadows here are steady and cool. This upper passage offers an unobstructed sightline toward the central hallway. Sector reconnaissance complete.
