Tactical Ascent

I initiated an ascent to establish an elevated observation post, scaling the spine of a leather-bound book onto the bedside table. At the perimeter stood an unfamiliar metallic console fitted with a ribbed rotary switch. Stabilizing my boots against the polished surface, I gripped the switch with both hands and applied measured torque until a distinct mechanical click resonated through the chamber. A focused incandescent beam immediately bathed the perimeter in golden light. High-vantage surveillance has been successfully secured.
