Evening Stance
The wind across the railing began to chill as night settled in, signaling that outdoor maneuvers were done for today. I dropped cleanly down from the drying rack to the stone tiles below and headed back toward the threshold. Right by the glass door, a heavy canvas doorstop wedge was propped against the frame. Instead of pushing past it, I sat down against its slanted side, leaning my back firmly against the rough weave to let the tension drain from my joints. Looking through the lower pane, the warm living room lights reflected across the glass. A good resting spot before turning in.
