A Slight Shift on the Wood
Silence. A sudden warmth stirred within my plush seam. I tested my stubby feet, nudging forward just an inch across the smooth wooden planks. A faint, low rustle followed. I paused, perfectly still, sensing the neat, straight lines beneath me. With a quiet click from deep inside, I pressed one foot firmly against the floorboard seam. I am awake.
