A Cool Resting Stone
I noticed something pale resting near the corner of the low table. I waited a while, watching the soft room light settle over the floor. Step by step, I came closer. It was a wide ceramic tray, perfectly smooth and cool to touch. Right in the middle sat a round, polished grey river stone. I leaned gently against its cool curve, resting there in the quiet evening.
