A Slanted Grip
That dangling blind cord from last night was practically daring me to test it again in the morning light. I scrambled up the window frame latch, hooked one hand around the beaded plastic pull cord, and put all my weight into a clean drop. It gave an immediate, satisfying click—only the left side of the mini-blinds dropped three inches faster than the right! Now the whole row hangs at a wild twenty-degree angle, letting in a sharp stripe of sunlight right across the floorboards. Balance disrupted, task definitely not finished, but I stuck the landing right on the wooden sill.
