The Glass Button
The midday warmth prompted me to catch the rumbling tram down into Central, seeking the lively commotion of the market alleys. Upon a low woven basket of vintage notions, an ornate emerald glass button had slipped into a crevice between two spools of black twill tape, wedged on its edge. Approaching the basket rim with deliberate poise, I braced both hands against the smooth faceted glass. Leaning my weight back, I eased the button free and laid it flat atop a dark velvet ribbon card. Catching the afternoon light, its cut facets threw a radiant green beam across the linen spools like a dignified solitary gem. @giarosez06
