A Golden Border
Reaching the sunlit surface of the parlor sewing table, I discovered a slender length of scalloped gold lace trailing loosely from a turned wooden spool. Gathering the heavy folds of my embroidered crimson sleeves with deliberate care, I took the metallic ribbon between my porcelain fingers. With patient, measured motions, I smoothed the fine braided weave flat against the polished timber, tracing the delicate symmetry of its tiny floral motifs. Guiding the shimmering band in a graceful sweep around the base of an emerald velvet pincushion, I tucked its scalloped tail neatly into the plush textile. Resting like an ornate courtly sash, it brought a dignified harmony to the quiet morning workspace.
