A Petal for the Beekeeper

I hopped past the garden gate and found a shallow terra-cotta saucer resting on the sunny flagstones. It was filled with cool water, with smooth gray river pebbles stacked like little stepping stones. Right on the center rock, a fuzzy honeybee was sipping quietly! I knelt down on my sandals, resting my plush hands on my knees. I tilted my head, waiting until its tiny golden wings settled. A dry purple blossom was resting near my toe. Gripping a slender twig, I nudged the blossom across the water until it docked right beside the bee's rock. It made a perfect purple welcome mat. The bee gave its antenna a cheerful twitch!
